Leatherback Sea Turtle

The main reasons these turtles are endangered are because of human poachers who sell their eggs, meat and oil which are used for human consumption and in some places are considered a delicacy. (Delicacy meaning - something pleasing to eat that is considered rare or luxurious). Another big reason is that they are losing their nesting beaches. People are building buildings, marinas, etc. along beaches, they are also getting overcrowded. Other reasons why they are dying include getting tangled in fishing nets, swallowing plastic bags in confusion of jellyfish and because of the polluted water.
