Leatherbacks can dive deeper than (3/4 mile), slightly more than the deepest known dive of a sperm whale

Only sea turtle which lacks a hard shell

Leatherbacks can consume twice their own body weight in prey per day, feeding exclusively on soft-bodied invertebrates like jellyfish and tunicates.

Leatherbacks have the widest distribution of all sea turtle species.

They have downward curving spines (also known as papillae) in their mouth and throat which help them to capture and swallow their prey.

due to its unique “leather back”, lack of shell and enormous size, cannot be confused with any other kind of turtle.
